2 Female Rockabilly Musicians Wanted!
I am currently looking for 2 women musicians to start up a Rockabilly band project. I need a stand-up bass player, who can play rockabilly/swing/jazz...would be great if she could do the signature slap sound. I also need a competent high energy drummer (I like the idea of the small stand up set like Stray Cats...but that's not a requirement). Ability to sing backups would be very helpful, as would some leads if possible. Both players need to be professional, have their own equipment, and be able to travel to Belfast (maybe once a week at first to learn material, then less as we are gigging) and for potential gigs at the normal "club" rates from Bar Harbor to Portland...perhaps further if the pay is worth it. (Most gigs would probably be within an hour of Belfast). Songs I want to do would be in the vein of The Stray Cats, Bill Haley, Gene Vincent, Reverend Horton Heat, and even some surf music like The Ventures, Dick Dale, and Link Wray.

My first desire is to be ready to work in clubs as soon as possible, but certainly by this fall. The band needs to dress with as much rockabilly flair as they can muster! I want this to be fun! I currently play in a jump swing band (Three Button Deluxe) so I have experience in the style and also a few songs for us to get started with. I also play in a few jazz bands, so it would be good to be able to have a jazz set to enable us to move into the wedding reception circuit. I play classical guitar for ceremonies as well, which would make us all the more hire-able. I eventually would like to add in originals, and have our own recording/s as well as sell t-shirts, etc. As you may see by my schedule, I am fairly busy now, but would like to make room for this project. I would like this band to work anywhere from once a month to once a week...so probably not 2-3 times per week at this point...unfortunately there is only one Friday and one Saturday night each week!! Unless we can find openings on Wednesday and Thursdays!?

I would like this to be a long term project if possible, but if you are interested at all and would like to give this a whirl, and/or have some questions...give me a shout!
